Firefighter Norman’s Game Day Steak Tips

This is a recipe I snagged from the Boston Herald. Usually I’m Globe reader but they didn’t have any good Super Bowl recipes. If you can find the lower sodium versions of Kikkoman and Grill Mates, I highly recommend them. If you’re going to make up the recipe as is then make sure you have a couple of beers handy to wash down the saltiness!

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce
  • 2-1/2 Tbsp Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 2-1/2 lbs Angus sirloin, cut into 1-1/2 inch cubes (I used stew beef with no problems)

The day before:
Whisk together oil and teriyaki sauce in a large air-tight container. Mix in steak seasoning, seasoned salt, basil, and chili powder. Add steak, close container and shake to coat meat. Marinate at room temperature for six hours, shaking every couple of hours. Refrigerate overnight.

Game day:
Preheat grill to high heat. Grill marinated meat about 5 minutes per side.

Serves 5 to 10
